Last night was my return to Plague after a long time away (since NYE) and I have to say, it was probably the most fun I've ever had there. We were downstairs, but we had a good crowd and people wanted to dance. Plus, I was able to see an old friend that lives about an hour north of Portland.

Interestingly, I dropped some older Gothy tracks that I alomost never, ever play. They were well recieved and allowed me to play some things that might not have flown so well otherise. FYI DJs, Xotox works better than Rob Zombie out there. Some things we learn the hard way.

Made it home just past 3am, slept for a very sound 4.25 hours and now I'm at work. I feel great despite such a long day yesterday and now I'm catching up on a few things while it's slow. I'm looking forward to a relaxing evening at home tonight with potential Dracula and popcorn.

Tomorrow we're going out to Lovell's island to chill and see rabbits, plus rock the Hingham ferry. Then Monday I finally get to spin with Addam again as he joins me for ARCADIA.

My absolute favorite 80's tune is playing right now and making my day.

DLR's "Just a Gigolo".

Werd.

Last night was very, very fun. I felt great about my sets, Punky did a great job and Megan danced on a box. Werd.

Tomorrow I'll be spinning with DJ Pathogen from Chicago for our Industrial Ice Cream Party. I can't describe how amazing it was the last I did one of these, everyone full of ice cream, dancing like mad.

What kind of ice cream would you like?

So, if in the spring I wanted to tour the east coast; who on my friends list can help me put a few gigs together south of NYC?

I'm thinking April. I'll have my new demo together in the near future and I don't want to just play festivals next year.

What if I had another DJ with me?

If you have my email, email me.

I have a prediction that the new Star Trek movie may meet my expectations. They aren't very high. Check the cast, hopefully Scotty can save it.

As we tried to get things in order before going out to XMorits, I noticed that my little Megan had fallen asleep on the floor amidst boxes and in close proximity to her cat. So, we relocated her to the sofa, put on some spike TV and she relaxed to "Inmates gone fuckin' hog-wild" or whatever.

So, I hit XMorits and handed out some flyers for FALLOUT, said my hallos and left in the space of 45 minutes with some hope that she would be awake when I got back, but I knew the odds of that were about as good as one of those emails from a Nigerian billionare being legit.

XM was fun. She was sleeping like a log and the cats were still freaking out when I got back. One of them is missing, but I know he's in the apartment somewhere.

Today I'm at work and tonight I'm putting the new home theather to the test with "Mirrormask".

[Aug. 7th, 2008|02:07 pm]

Yesterday went by so fast I can hardly believe it. I woke up at 9am (early for my day off), went back to the house in Marshfield to collect the one remaining snake, catch the UPS dood and a grab few other things. I was unloaded and parked beofre 1pm, WIN, then got to unpacking and assembling things while I wait for Comcast to show up and intall the cable I won't watch and the internet.

While I was waiting, I hooked up the home theater and began to wire up 7.1 surround sound. It took a while, but I'm very happy with the result. I also mounted the projector and while the stud finder mistook the AC duct for a stud, the screws still went in it just fine.

So, the picture I now have is so huge I can barely describe it. Suffice to say, you could park a minivan on it. It's just what I wanted it to be.

Tonight we have cats joining us and we've decided to take a break from working ourselves to exhaustion, only to fall alseep clothed with the lights on. Within the next few days, everything should be in it's place and we can start truly enjoying our new pad.

Tomorrow we'll be at XMorits, but we won't stay long.

So, we now live in a chocolate factory. It's nice.

The place is full of our stuff and most of it needs to find a lace to be, but it's not bad. We assembled the bedroom (mostly) and spent the first night in the new bed. I was concerned that since I bought the mattress and box from Building 19, they would suck in some way, but hey're very, very nice and the stiffness I've had in my back for a few days seems to have gone away. Now, all we need are cats.

Tonight I'll see you all at DWT, I'm looking forward to spinning almost as much as the 8 mile drive home ;)

[Jul. 27th, 2008|01:11 pm]

Since I worked yesterday, as I always do on Saturdays, after a tiring few days, I wasn't much in the mood for anything other than a chill evening with the girl and some good food.

I picked up some hugemongous scallops and made them grilled ala cajun with lime, caprese salad on the side. While those two things aren'r meant to go together, the scallops had such a bite, the cool, crisp basil and tomato with the plush softness of chilled mozzarella was perfect. I will say that these scallops were possibly the best thing I've ever made, ever.

We wound up watching the movie "Otis", which I knew nothing about but looked amusing. It was fun in a ridiculous way for most of film, but then just descended into silliness that killed it for me. The scoring was the second worst I've heard, the first being "Ladyhawk" (cheesy 80's synths in a medieval setting), but at least "Ladyhawk" was scored for the film and didn't just have random scoring tracks, some like lame smooth Jazz, thrown over the scenes. They would have been better off just not having anything.

Our evening ended with us talking in the dark for a while and then falling asleep to Gus Gus. It was rad.

I did it. I finally dropped the hammer on a PS3 so that I'll have both a blu-ray DVD player and a game system that can handle HD.

As per my usual MO, I bought a store return through ebay and saved zillions.

Now I have to figure out what to cook with pepper jack cheese that Megan is bringing over tonight.

[Jul. 20th, 2008|12:25 pm]

It looks like we have a furnished apartment now. The sofa expedition was such a success that it left some additional funds for the bedroom, so I bought one. Before the club last night, we hit Building 19 in Hanover, where I had scoped a bunch of stuff and purchased a queen bed (headboard, footboard and sides with frame), mattress with boxspring, dresser and a nightstand. All for next to nothing.

My movie screen fabric has shipped as well, which will provide the equilvalent of a 140" screen, and the additional two satellite speakers for my 7.1 surround.

What's even better, is I may have someone to take my bed (which I should sell, but what-ev) and my tarantulas, plus some guy is supposed to come by to buy my bowflex, which I won't have room for, otherwise I'd keep it.

Whether I do it as a housewarming party or for some event, I really feel a need for a chocolate party.

I just tried to edit this post to add how much fun the club was last night, but when I hit the back space, it backed up the page and erased it all. So, suffice to say, I rocked the hiz and things got naughty.

[Jul. 19th, 2008|03:08 pm]

So, we now have a sofa. Y'all know what a snob about everything I am, so I was surprised when we decided on the cheapest thing we saw. It was super comfy, exactly the right color (though it came in ONLY that color) and it didn't seem to be made of $0.99/yard pine strapping. We started with Bob's, which I'm told is very hit or miss and saw a HUGE sectional for $999, but while Megan nearly fell asleep on it in the store, it was so shoddily made I was very concerned about it surviving us and the cats. So we went to a few places, wound up at Jordan's and made our way to the "City Living" section, which means "Inexpensive and trying to nick a few customers from Ikea". We could have afforded a more expensive one, but this was great and ridiculously cheap.

So, tonight we're going to look at a bedroom setup I saw at the Building 19 near my work and I'll be trying to talk the dudes there into holding things for two weeks if she likes it, which I think she will. Now I need to figure out what to do with my full sized platform bed and mattress.

Can you donate them to some charity that will pick it up for a tax writeoff?

I'll see what google has to say about it.

[Jul. 15th, 2008|03:13 pm]

I'm having a very, very interesting day.

I rode into work today, not just because this morning was amazingly beautiful, but because I was meeting a dood from PA that wanted to buy my bike. It was a seven hour drive for him, so I felt he wasn't a joker. We got off to a great start, though my bike wouldn't. Recently I totally killed the battery and apparently the new one didn't get a good charge since I've barely ridden. So, lots of embarrassing clicks later, I have to jump it. DOH!

Anyway, he bought it after getting me to throw in the stock seat, which I felt was reasonable. It just drove off on the back of a truck and I'm feeling like I just lost a friend. Of course, the huge wad of cash in my pocket sure helps.

While all of this was going on, we found out that the Chocolate Factory apartment we have been working on getting into gave us the green light. So, in two weeks I'm now supposed to move again. It's SO worth the hassle of moving again so soon though, this place is amazing. Also, it's only eight miles from Ceremony and the Milton T stop is about 200 feet from the entrance.

I need to buy a sofa. Possibly a new bed. Do I splurge on a PS3 too?

Well, wasn't that one of the better 4ths ever.

We slept in, cuz you do that on a holiday, but it's so rare that we get to do that, so it was super. This was especially so since we were up until 3am the night before talking through a mojito haze about all kinds of things that must only be discussed very late and with some booze in the blood.

Then we found an open pizza place in Maynard and walked in with expectations of, well, pizza. Little did we know that this place had a gargantuan menu and food of a shockingly high caliber, for very little money. She had a chicken stir fry that was full of colorful veggies and I'm told was delicious, while I went for the lobster ravioli with sauteed scallops. What was even better was the pizza shop portions of this amazing food, which were truly two meals worth.

than it was back to the apartment to get clean and head out to pick up Ben (of C/A/T) from the airport. Somehow I had no idea there was a cell phone lot where you can wait, so that was useful to discover and saved us from the scolding of the cannily ornery nature of the sate troopers that patrol the terminal pick up areas. We dropped off Ben at the hotel in Winthrop and decided to stay local since we had been told that Winthrop had some bad ass fireworks.

It was still early, so we got a snack and a drink (that I spiked with lime vodka) and wandered around the shores. Eventually we went out to a jetty with a tattered American flag waving above it. It seemed like the place to be. What made it great was that the bay where the populous was gathering was on the other side if the small peninsula and we enjoyed relative privacy as we watched the sunset from the rocks and waited for thing sto start blowing up.

I didn't know it until it started, but from where we were, you could see the fireworks of all the neighboring towns, so the horizon was full of distant and seemingly coordinated bursts of light. It was beautiful. Then the Winthrop show started and we found that we had a great view of that as well. The tide was slowly moving in and narrowing the path back to the beach, so at the very end of the show, we went back to the car and headed back, beating the rush out of Boston and avoiding all the traffic.

We fell asleep listening to Fluke's "Risotto" in a state of total comfort and peace.

In summary: WIN.

Obviously, today is THUDfest and the buzz for the show is so good that I can't help but be very excited. My plan to make sure there's plenty of time for dancing in addition to the bands seems to be going over well.

Well, I was expecting last night to be fun, but that was off the fucking hook. Definitely doing that again. Kudos to Punky for kicking ass.

The big surprise was my friend Rob (DJ Machwave) texting me on my way in that he was going to be there. He's from the west coast, so I usually only see him when he's back around the holidays or at whatever festival we both happen to be attending/working. He mentioned he wanted to spin, I was down with it. We wound up tag teaming, which must have been a huge challenge for him since he didn't have his music and had to use mine, which is organized by alternating barcode serial number and my convoluted system of "it should go here probably". Had he not gotten into the booth, I can pretty much damn well guarantee you wouldn't have heard Atomizer. You apparently liked it, you danced and everything.

The huge games were amusing, but not overly distracting and in case you didn't notice, they were bring played from a table on stage. I have a bunch of self-contained 8 bit game systems, but I had to buy a new one last night since they weren't where I thought they would be. For the next one, which I'm doing with ZNUH this month, I'll have the two player one out. Now all I have to do is find it.

Just a few days until THUDfest. I want to jump up and down with excitement whenever I think of it. So, I'm going outside to do that now.

Later.
